Thank you. A reminder to anyone dropping off or picking up students on Toronto Avenue...please DO NOT stop or park beyond the east end of the school building (in other words in the turnaround circle at the end of the street). By stopping in the circle, you make it difficult for anyone to turn their vehicle around smoothly. It creates a congestion that could easily be avoided. intramurals goes indoors!

We've had no fewer than nine teams up and running in soccer, volleyball, and hockey so far this year and they are all being coached by dedicated staff and volunteer coaches (a number of alumni included in that group...a sign of a great school is alumni wanting to come back to their old school and give back...but I digress). Here's a bit of information and recaps of the action from this past week. Varsity Boys Volleyball - The varsity boys volleyball team played 2 matches this past week. They won a nail biter in Carman on Tuesday winning 3-2 and lost to a strong Rosenort squad on Thursday. Check out the live stream on Tuesday to catch their rematch against Carman. Varsity Girls Volleyball - The varsity girls hosted a 9 team tournament this past weekend. Coach Lehmann has the girls working hard and that showed on Friday with two victories over Roseau Valley and MCI. The girls finished their round robin pool on Saturday in second place. That put them up against the eventual champions, the Landmark 96'ers. The girls were able to take a set off Landmark, but couldn't finish the deal, losing 16-14 in the third and deciding set. That put them in the third place game against the Redhawks of Rosenort. The girls, once again, fought hard to take it to three sets, but lost to Rosenort 15-11 in the third. The girls showed a great deal of promise. We look forward to seeing how they progress through their season. Junior Varsity Boys Volleyball - Our JV Boys lost 3 straight in their home opener this past week. Despite the straight sets loss, it was a hard fought battle. A great deal of team spirit and growth is being experienced in every game. It was the first time this season that all of our players together in our home opener. Thank you to Mrs. Skoglund and Ms. Thiessen for coaching the girls this season. Varsity Hockey - The Maverick Hockey season began quickly! After a great exhibition game against the Miller Aces, the program hosted their annual Invitational Six-Team Tournament. The competition was fierce, but our Mavericks improved in each and every game.
