Our school listened & shared stories, read books, and recognized and joined in solidarity with Residential School survivors, and honoured those who didn't make it home from school. This was accomplished through our live streamed morning announcements, virtual assemblies, & in our classrooms, by students and staff alike. As the week comes to a close, we are, as school, better informed and understanding that Every Child Matters. Thank you to all who contributed to making this week a good one. Art students keeping things in the mind's eye!In honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day, Ms. Wray’s Grade 7 & 8 art class painted rocks that will be hidden around the community next week to help spread awareness. If you find one of these rocks, you can send a picture to [email protected], then feel free to either keep or rehide it. #MSremembers 3/4E = active truth & reconciliation learnersMrs. Edel's Grade 3/4 class put in some work this week to better understand what Truth & Reconciliation means. They learned about Phyllis Webstad’s experience at a residential school. They also designed their our own orange shirts and talked about why every child matters and how we are all part of the human family. They finished off the week enjoying the virtual assembly and watching First Nation NBA entertainer Q-Mack showcase his basketball tricks. JV Boys & Girls Volleyball host first tourney! In what has seemed like a lifetime away, last weekend our Junior Varsity Volleyball teams hosted the first tournament since the pandemic started. It was refreshing to have student-athletes from Morris and other schools competing and having fun while representing their respective schools. Both our girls and boys teams improved immensely over the day's competitions. Congratulations to both the boys & girls' teams from Rosenort for capturing the tournament titles. Thank you to Mrs. Kurylko, Mrs. Leflar, Mrs. Legary, Andrew Penner, & Mr. Dekezel for all their efforts in making the tournament such a success.
