fundraisers x 3!Thanks to the generosity of the Kosawa family, our school will be hosting a K-6 ice cream fundraiser event on Friday, September 22nd. The Kosawa family operates the Barefoot Cafe (@the_barefoot_cafe_) in St. Malo when the weather is conducive to ice cream and other summer treats. You can order one ice cream for $2 or an allergy-friendly alternative for $1. All K-6 families registered with SchoolCashOnline can order. If you're not signed up for SchoolCashOnline, please do so. Thank you, once again, to the Kosawa family for their generosity. All grade 6-12 band students are now selling vegetables through Peak of the Market's "Farm to School" fundraiser program. This fundraiser is going directly into the band program to help offset the costs of instrument repairs, cleaning, supplies, music, and upkeep. Buyers have the option to purchase for themselves or to donate bundle(s) to the Morris Food Bank. Orders can be made online at www.peakfarmtoschool.com and are due on Wednesday, October 11th. Thank you for your support! intramural schedule this week!Our school's Senior Years' Athletic Department has developed a plan for how our Grades 7-12 students can be involved in lunchtime activities for this upcoming school year. We encourage our students to stop by the gym and try out the daily activities. mavericks athletic updateSoccer The soccer season officially got underway this week with the boys defeating RVS on Monday before dropping their second game to DCS. The girls had a rough start with a loss to DCS, but are looking forward to getting back on track next Monday at RVS. The Boys travel to Carman on Monday to play the Cougars. Cross Country Grade 7-12 Cross Country practices will be on Wednesdays after school (3:20 p.m.) and Thursdays at lunch (12:10 p.m.). If students have other commitments and can only make one of the practices, please communicate with Mrs. Zimmerman. The grade 3-8 meet is on October 2nd and the grade 9-12 zone meet is on September 27th, both in St, Malo. Please contact Mrs. Zimmerman if you have any questions. Volleyball All grade 7-12 teams are up and running but it is not too late to join a team! The JV and V Girls have the weekend off, while the Junior Varsity Boys split round-robin games with SJR and Steinbach Christian before dropping some hard-fought sets to Immanuel Christian in the playoff round. Mrs. Leflar was very proud of the boy’s effort and improvement over the weekend! The Varsity Boys had a rough start but fought hard to steal a set off Goose Lake. In the playoff round, they defeated Boissevain in straight sets before winning a hard 3-set battle against Carberry to win the consolation side. A great end to the weekend and start to the season. See you there!!!! new to instagram!explore your creative sideStudents 16 and older who are interested in graphic design and printmaking can apply for the following program from The Manitoba Printmakers Association Inc. They run the Martha Street Studio beside the Manitoba Museum in Winnipeg. It is an artist-run centre, studio and gallery with the goal being the production and dissemination of the printmaking arts. The Youth Outreach Program is an exciting free after-school printmaking program for youth between the ages of 16 and 25. The Youth Outreach Program is comprised of 24 classes over 12 weeks and is taught by professional artists. A variety of printmaking techniques including screen print, intaglio and relief printing, as well as basic colour theory and composition, are explored. Participants attend on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January to April 2024. Many students across Southern Manitoba apply for this program, so interested students in Morris can apply around the middle of November 2023. An “Apply Now” button will be available on the website, so please check back at that time. If you did not receive that email, please email Ms. Denny at [email protected] and she will send you one. You do not require a credit card to successfully execute a payment using School Cash Online. You can link your account directly to one of your bank accounts and it will be withdrawn directly from that specific account when you complete your payment transaction.
