Outdoor Courts Project UpdatesThe Outdoor Courts Project Committee and the community that supports them have been busy. This week we were told by Tim Horton's that we raised a total of $24,405.03. This total ranked third in the province for total sales. We are beyond appreciative of the support shown for the project, the Morris Food Bank, YFC, and Cancer Care in the form of cookie donations. We are getting closer and closer to our project fundraising goal. We will keep working until that final number has been reached. On Team Eli's Facebook page, the following post appeared..."With your support, Team Eli was able to deliver 25 dozen Smile Cookies to the hardworking staff at HSC- cookies went to the CK5 unit, CancerCare, Child Life, and the PICU. These cookies already brought a lot of joy to people who do the toughest jobs every day AND they are working to bring the Morris Courts Project one step closer to breaking ground. We can’t thank you enough for your support!!" Our Committee has now teamed with the Sun Valley Co-op for our next project. We are inviting our school community and greater Morris Community to a BBQ on Wednesday, May 31st (poster below). We hope to see you out for a hot dog and conversation, while enjoying the talents of our school's jazz band. local rcmp officer helps bring a Novel to lifeOn Tuesday, May 9, RCMP Constable McGrath visited the 5/6 Moore class to speak. We have been learning about the different kinds of volcanoes and how they erupt. So on Wednesday we made our way outside, on a beautiful day, to complete an experiment on how Volcanoes erupt! Using pop bottles, and filling them with a vinegar/soap mixture, we then added a baking soda/water slurry and our volcanoes erupted! Some students made their own modifications to the experiment, mixing the solutions more to create more bubbles, or leaving them stagnant before the slurry was added. We discovered more bubbles makes more of an eruption! A heartfelt apology to all the parents who now have vinegar and baking soda all over their houses!! We have some future Geologists in Morris School now! Grade 5/6s head to the zoo!On Thursday, May 11 the 5/6 classes went to the Assiniboine Zoo. It was a beautiful sunny day for learning about polar bears and many other animals while sharing the experience with friends. Mrs. Siemens shines at what she loves to doLast weekend Mrs. Siemens received the Skate Manitoba SynchroSkate Athlete Award. Her team nominated "a skater who displays dedication and commitment to their team through participation and displays leadership through sportsmanship and giving back to the sport." Despite her humility, we wanted to show our students that they can continue to do what they love do into their adult lives and succeed. Congratulations Mrs. Siemens! save the date!Comments are closed.
