Grades 8 - 11 students - time to registerIt is that time of year again! Mrs. Edel has made presentations to Grades 8 - 11 students regarding their elective choices for next year. All student have been emailed an elective survey form to complete. In order to plan appropriately for the following year, we need these forms to be completed prior to spring break. Course offerings will be impacted by the results of these forms, so please take your time to reflect on your elective choices and submit them before Friday, March 24. We invited her to come speak to us about the history of the Red River Valley Food Bank, as well as the current issues that this important institution is facing. During the lockdowns they were not able to hold their regular town-wide food drives. Increasing food prices have meant that more people need to use the food bank. It also means the costs for the food bank to provide food for its clients have gone way up. Combined with the reduction in food donations, this amounts to a "perfect storm" for our food bank. After reading an article in the Southeast Journal by Sean Conway, our 7/8s decided to do something to help the food bank! The 7/8s will be collecting food items and toiletries in their classrooms for the month of March. We will be delivering our donations at the end of the month. Find a 7/8 student and give them a food donation! Important items: pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, canned vegetables and fruits, canned meat, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, preserves, and toiletry items. early years phys. ed. - snow shoeing adventuresFishing derby a huge successOn a cold and windy March 14th 2023, the Morris Mavericks Fishing Club was joined by many local community members for a great morning on the hard-water. Perry Wnuk helped out with his wisdom, humor and plenty of fishing gear. Sean Conway was a great asset with helping kids get fishing quickly, cleaning out ice holes, providing a fire pit, and helping serve a delicious lunch. Jordan Berezowski has been a huge asset to the fishing club all year, and helped out with fishing questions and lunch delivery as well! Hunter Diamond and Mark from ‘Kingsland Outfitters’ spent the morning with us as well! They had plenty of knowledge to share with the students, and also let each student get some time fishing with the ‘GARMIN LIVESCOPE’ underwater imaging system! Crystal Legary was behind the scenes making a tasty warm lunch of pulled pork and beef barley soup which was served to us on the ice! Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped out in any way!
