Senior Years' Exam Week has arrivedAs the Senior Years' Semester 1 exams begin, we wish all students the best of luck this week. It can be a stressful time, so we hope you've done as much as possible to reduce that stress. One of the best ways to reduce exam stress is to prepare as well as you can and then be confident that you've done all you can do succeed. We would encourage you to reach out to your teachers if you have some final questions about concepts, content, etc. We would also hope that our students keep their perspective when it comes to exams. It is one assessment (a large test) and not the only way our teachers gauge your success in their class(es). We would expect our students to respect those who are writing and/or studying during the week. That would mean being quiet in the hallways, library and in other locations where your fellow Mavericks are writing or preparing for their exams. Good luck! Over the last two weeks, the Winnipeg-based performance group introduced (and re-introduced for our older students) traditional Japanese drumming to our K-8 students. The experience started with a performance on the first Monday of their two week experience. The final event this past Friday was a student performance that highlighted some excellent and creative rhythmic and synchronized drumming by our students. We would like to thank Mrs. Johnston for organizing the two week experience, which involved some re-adjustments after our wind chill school cancellation in the first week. We would also thank Mrs. Bially and Mrs. Kurylko for accommodating the Fubuki Daiko for transforming their gyms into drumming dojo's for the two week period. Your flexibility is appreciated. We would like to commend the students for being open to learning something new and gaining new skills and perspectives as a result.
