'I love to read' month a resounding success!Congratulations to all the K-4 classes for reaching their reading goal and earning $100 worth of books for their classroom! Thank you for your support of reading!!! Thank you to everyone who participated in the I Love To Read Calendar. Here are the Weeks 3 and 4 winners The K-4 students learned about 7 Canadian heroes for I Love to Read Month. The heros were Terry Fox, Wab Kinew, Nellie Mcclung, David Suzuki, Chris Hadfield, Clara Hughes and Viola Desmond. Students were split into groups and went to every K-4 classroom and learned about a different hero and did a fun activity! Way to go! The Month of “I Love to Read” wraps up, but our love of reading is stronger than ever! It’s wonderful to share the joy of reading. Guests in our last week include Mr. Kelesnik, one of our School Board Trustees, who shares his love of books and “tic tacs” everywhere he goes. Thanks to Mr. K the Kindergarten classes both know what a “tic tac” is now! And check out the joy on Mr. K’s face as he is surrounded by the students. Everyone had a great time reading! Ms. Epler’s Grade 7-8 class enjoyed a special reading guest on Wednesday when Mr. Fountain visited and taught them all about Diffendoofer Day! Oh yeah! You know we are never too old for a great Dr. Seuss classic! Thanks, Mr. Fountain for sharing some of your favorite children’s books with the group! Our guest reader, Keri Dyck, from the Access Credit Union, read to the Grade 3-4 classes in the library. The topic - money of course! Thank you for visiting us at Morris School and donating three books to the library! Next time, Mrs. Dyck will try to bring along the mascots “Bill” and “Nickel” the credit union St. Bernard pals! Congratulations to all of the prize winners of the Bookmark Contest and the “Guess Who’s Reading?” contest. Thank you for participating! 7/8 E in the reading mix as well! This month in the Grade 7/8 Epler classroom, students pushed themselves (and succeeded multiple times) in beating both class and individual reading goals for I Love to Read Month! Originally, students set a class goal of 20 books which was met easily. Students also set individual goals for the month based on what they thought they could achieve! After students reached 20 books, they strived for 50 then 100! In total, the Grade 7/8 Epler class read close to 175 books in February. As a reward, students decided on treats, Dojo Points, a guest reader and a free class period. Special shout-out to our top readers: Natalie W, Hannah K, Gemma T, and Finn G! Great job everyone! robotics club updateThe robotics team hosted Albright School on Friday for a tournament.
