A bit of spirit this weekOur Student Leadership Group is looking to build some camaraderie and school spirit this week by hosting a bit of a Spirit Week. We encourage all students from K-12 to participate. The poster below indicates the theme of each day. On Friday's Colour Day, be sure to pay attention to the legend at the bottom of the poster below as the grade you are in impacts the colour you are encouraged to wear that day. Let's go, MAV's! Head into Spring Break on a high note! Please complete '22-23 elective surveys (Gr 8-11)In order to plan for the next school year appropriately, we need to get a handle on what our students who are attending Grades 9-12 next year exactly the electives they would like to take. this process is important for the distribution of staffing as well as determining what electives will be offered next year by Morris School. We would ask each student and their parents/guardians to take this process seriously. If Mrs. Edel has made a presentation to your grade, you should be completing either a paper copy and the appropriate Google Form. The following QR codes will get you to the correct Google form. The Google Forms are arranged as follows...Grade 9's next year --> Upper Left; Grade 10's next year --> Upper Right; Grade 11's next year --> Lower Left; Grade 12's next year --> Lower Right. Please see Mrs. Edel or Mr. Watson if you have any questions. staff vs students hockey revived! The Staff vs Student hockey game is back after a couple of years hiatus. picking up or dropping off a studentA quick reminder to families who need to pick up or drop off their student at a time that does not coincide with the regular start and end of the day. Please do so by accessing the front office doors. Once you check your student into the office (or the student checks themselves in at the office), they will either be sent to class or escorted to class depending on their age. Staff will do the escorting, not parents. If a parent needs to see a teacher, please make an appointment beforehand. The same applies for pick ups...please call the front office and pick your student up at the front office. Thank you to all who follow these procedures. We hope this reminder helps the others who have forgot about this expectation. Mav Gear online store is open businessThe MAV Gear online store is open for another week. THE ACCESS CLASS TRAVELS TO AISA...WELL...SORT OF!This school year we’ve already studied North and South America and Africa and the next stop on our journey around the world is Asia. We’ve started to explore the geography, environments and world issues that go along with the Earth’s largest and most populous continent. Snow Sculptures We started our snow sculptures a little late this year but still got to enjoy them for a day or two before they melted away. The younger kids enjoyed watching us during recess and were very encouraging. We stuck to our theme and carved pandas, tigers and elephants. A Taste of the Philippines We were the luckiest class in the school on St. Patrick’s Day when Mrs. Rhoda Bagay-Labauza and her husband prepared a delicious Filipino feast for us to enjoy. Thank you again! Happy Holi! Holi is a popular Hindu festival. It is also known as the Festival of Spring, the Festival of Colour and the Festival of Love. This year Holi is on March 18th. We learned about how Holi is celebrated in India and had our own celebration with Holi inspired chalk art, henna and colour spray. We’re all very excited for Spring!
