robotics club updateIn robotics news, Hannah Klassen has been working hard at the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Robot Fight Club at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Engineering. You can see her Lego Mindstorms Robot Inventor set that she's been working on since January here. Well done Hannah as the program heads towards its final day! Permission slips are to be handed in by March 12th and all payments are due online! grade 9s hit the vocational road!As part of the Red River Technical Vocational Area (RRTVA) Tour on March 7, Grade 9 students had the opportunity to visit vocational programs in Morris, Dominion City, Altona, and Winkler, and see first-hand what technology options are available. mavericks athletic reportBadminton Badminton Practices occur for Grades 9-12 students every Monday and Tuesday after school (3:30). Basketball Our Junior Varsity Boys travelled to Winnipeg this past week to compete in the JV A/AA Provincials. Our Mavericks were ranked 5th going in and upset #4 Warren in the first round 66-62. In the semi-final they fell to the eventual Provincial Champs from Souris, On Saturday they competed hard against a tough Carberry team in the Bronze medal game. Unfortunately, they came out on the wrong side of the score, but we are very proud of your hard work and dedication this season! Beach Volleyball Practices continue on Thursdays from 3:30-6:00 p.m. for Grades 9-12 students interested in playing Beach Volleyball. Flag Football Our Maverick girls continue to improve at the game of Flag Football. Practices occur Tuesdays & Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Rugby Rugby Practices continue for all those Grades 9-12 students interested on Mondays and Wednesdays. Practices start at 3:30. Wrestling This past Saturday, ten Mavericks travelled to Winnipeg to compete at the 2024 Manitoba Amateur Wrestling Association Provincial Championships. After the mats were rolled up, eight of the 10 wrestlers earned medals. Of those eight, four can call themselves A. Provincial. Champion! Congratulations to Emma Knelsen, Oliver Taylor, James Calekaleka, and Tomoki Kosowa for earning the right to say those words. Congratulations to them for this honour. Congratulations also go out to Samantha Storck for her silver medal performance as well as Christoph Sawatzky-Hildebrand, Brent Sebastian, & Jeraldo Buhler for earning bronze medals.
