exams this week!Well...exams are just a couple days away for our Grades 9-12 students. There will not be formal classes for these students during the day. They are free to come to school in time for their exam and leave immediately after. There will be quiet places to study for those students who are unable to leave after their exams. Students not writing exams are expected to respect those who are or those who are studying and the younger students who still have regular classes. We encourage all of our students who have exams to prepare well in advance, reach out to their teachers when they have questions, get some good sleep and eat well over the next few weeks. A well-prepared, well-rested student will do as well as they are supposed to do if they have done this. report cards via powerschoolOur parents should have all received something similar to the following letter before the winter break... Morris School is thrilled to announce the launch of the PowerSchool Parent Portal to publish your child’s report cards. Why
When
How to Get Started: Use the letter that was emailed to you from the school, explaining how you can connect with your child’s PowerSchool account via the Parent Portal. OR If you require assistance in setting up your account please contact Ms. Denny - at [email protected] To be clear, the PowerSchool Parent portal will be the only way our school will be distributing report cards on February 9th. So all families must create a PowerSchool account if they don't currently have one. Thank you for partnering with us on this exciting journey! powerschool note to parentsGood Day, Maverick Highschool Parents. Teachers are doing a lot of work getting ready for their report cards, and to avoid parents and students being inundated with information (sometimes in draft form), we are disabling public access to the powerschool portal starting Monday January 29th until reports are completed. Once report cards have been uploaded into powerschool we will send out an email to all parents/guardians. If you haven't received your powerschool parent login information or require additional assistance in setting it up please email Mrs. Denny at [email protected]. K-8 report cards are set to come out after spring break, we strongly encourage all parents to set up their powerschool accounts ASAP. students...do you have powerschool app issues?Dear students, Many of you have been locked out of your PowerSchool accounts. To have your account password reset, please email Mrs. Denny at [email protected] and she will reset your password when she has a free minute in the day. Once you receive that email, please log in to your App. The App will then ask you to create a new password for your account. bell let's talk day - January 24Bell Let's Talk took place this week on Wednesday, January 24th. During a"field trip" to a dark room in the school, we projected our constellations onto the ceiling through DIY constellation viewers and listened to each other's stories. We heard some very creative legends including some about submarines, archery, and crocodiles! Special thanks to Mrs. Dekezel for all of the cardboard tubes and Mr. Dyck for lending us his super-bright flashlight! grade 9 lifeworks pitch eggstreme sports!Scenario: Eddie, the egg and dozens of his friends are passionate about base jumping, but they don't like to be constrained by wearing a parachute ... which tends to make landing a problem. Each Company is to capitalize on this new sport by building a structure to place on the floor where Eddie and his friends can land safely. Eggs will "jump" from 6-inch intervals until they crack/scramble or the structure fails. Task: To work cooperatively as a team to create a company, which includes a slogan, business structure, and advertisement/presentation in ONE class to entice the other teams in the class to purchase their “egg bed.” mavericks athletics updateBasketball It was a great week for our Basketball teams as our JV Boys defeated St. Pauls 71-20 (currently sit 8th in the Province), our Varsity Boys defeated Westpark 81-70 and our Varsity Girls defeated Westpark 60-18.
