The end of remote learningWe received notice from Manitoba Education that remote learning ends today (January 15). We look forward to seeing our 1-8 students on a daily basis and our Kindergarten and Grades 9-12 on an every other day basis. Grade 11/12's will be the first to appear on Monday, January 18th followed by the Grade 9/10 students on Tuesday. While having students learn from home hasn't been ideal, we would like to commend our students and staff for their commitment to learning during these past two weeks. Our teachers have been impressed with our students' attendance and engagement levels during this time. We would ask all student who borrowed laptops or other hardware to return them to school on Monday morning. We look forward to seeing everyone next week! Gr. 5/6 Phys. Ed. complete strong person weekOur Grade 5/6 Phys. Ed. classes have just completed their Strong Person unit. Over the last week or so, the students have been testing their strength & endurance by completing a number of challenging tasks thrown at them by Mr. Lehmann. Today's final task was a car pull competition. Students were grouped together to pull Mr. Lehmann and his vehicle over a specific distance in the parking lot. The time competition was a great way to cap off the unit! Way to go, MAV's!! computer club in space!!Our Morris School Computer Club continues to seize new & exciting opportunities! This one involves the International Space Station (ISS)! Our club entered the European Astro Pi Challenge run in collaboration with the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The Challenge offered students and young people the amazing opportunity to conduct scientific investigations in space by writing computer programs that run on Raspberry Pi computers on board the International Space Station. The Mission Zero challenge offered participants up to 14 years of age the chance to have their code run on the ISS. Teams write a program to display a message and humidity reading on an Astro Pi computer, for the astronauts to see as they go about their daily tasks on the ISS. Congratulations to Seth C., Ryan D., Jax S, & Coach Sean Conway for their accomplishment! It is just OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD!! Way to go, MAV's! virtual Parent group - school social workcoming soon...maverick media contestGrade 1/2 working on wisdom! It has been said that "finding patterns is the essence of wisdom."
