February is "I love to read month"“I Love to Read Month” is a month long celebration held each year to encourage reading, writing, and sharing in the joy of literacy. As the month unfolds, Morris School will be graced with the presence of people from all walks of life reading to our students. Our students will also be challenged to read as much as they can with the potential reward of earning cash for their classes to purchase new books to enhance their classroom library. We hope you find the month as enjoyable at home as we will at school. Kindergarten registration continues...Kindergarten registration packages available for the 2020-2021 school year. We wish you all the best as you start your new classes. Maverick round ball updateOur Varsity Girls' basketball won their tournament at RVS this weekend. The girls were undefeated in three games. They started their tournament with a 56-33 victory over Shevchenko. Jana Olayan was named player of the game. The Mavericks earned a trip to the Tournament final with a 40-37 win over Sagkeeng. Sjusen Storck earned player of the game status. The Mavericks final win of the tournament came against the host team, RVS. The girls finished off a perfect weekend with a 37-25 win. Molli Johnson was named player of the game in the final. Congratulations Mavericks! The JV Boys basketball team travelled to the Interlake to participate in the Gimli Tournament. The team faced some tough opponents. With losses to Helen Betty Osborne School and Teulon, the boys finished off the tournament by winning their final game 63-55 against Arborg. This teams get back to Zone 4 action this week with the Varsity girls traveling to Shevchenko on Thursday for a 7 pm game. The JV boys travel to the same location for a game on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
