contest winner - Brayden HansenCongratulations to Brayden Hansen, who was selected as a winner of the CHL Leave Your Mark, Design a Jersey Contest. The Grade 7/8 Art class participated in this competition last year, and were required to select a team, and design a jersey. After submitting their drawings, Brayden was selected as a winner, and his design was transformed into a jersey that will be worn by the entire team. Congratulations Brayden! mav gear arrives on MondayJust in time for Christmas...our MAV gear will arrive on Monday. It requires a bit of time to sort and distribute, so we're hoping for that all gear will be in your hands by Tuesday at the end of the day. IF you don't want your student to see the gear (Christmas gift?), please let the school know as soon as possible as we will be giving it to them directly unless we hear something different. Don't be a close contact - wear your mask! When Public Health calls a school to notify them of a positive COVID-19 case, they are also looking for close contacts if the student or staff member with a positive test result was at school during their contagious period. When defining a close contact they describe it as someone who was not wearing a mask (or wearing it improperly) and within 2 metres of the person with a positive COVID-19 for 10 minutes or more cumulative in a day. So, the logical conclusion to limiting the number of close contacts is to wear our masks properly. It will save you and our families from the risk of catching COVID, the hassle of a dealing with Public Health as a close contact, and/or a 10-day self-isolation period. We have a large portion of our school who is doing an excellent job wearing their masks and abiding by the protocols our school has to live with and follow. We appreciate you being understanding of what needs to be done for us to keep our school open to our students. Thank you! However, as a staff, we are constantly reminding the remaining students to wear their masks or to wear them properly. We are reaching a point where something needs to change. Although mask wearing has been around for over a year, we've included an infographic to assist those who still struggle with wearing a mask. We are here to educate, but we also need those we are tasked to educate to be open to that education. We expect and thank you, in advance, for your support. ancient egypt in Mr. Stevenson's class!Grade 7/8S are studying Ancient Egypt in social studies. K-2's learning about holidays around the worldThe K-2 students have been focused on exploring and learning about holidays celebrated in Canada as well as countries around the world. We have spent time learning about traditions and customs from China, Mexico, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Australia, The Netherlands and more! Students have engaged and demonstrated their learning through whole class research, creating lap books, flip books, murals, crafts and many conversations. Students have really enjoyed learning about how children all over the world have both similar and different ways to celebrate the holiday season.
