grad information meeting - wednesdayThere will be a Grad 2020 Information Meeting this Wednesday (December 4th). The meeting will take place in the theatre (music room) at 6:30 pm. Information about this meeting has been mailed to parents of eligible graduates as well. We look forward to seeing a great turnout on Wednesday evening as there is a lot to discuss and get started to ensure graduation is a great culmination event for your graduate and their families. maverick gear deadline - regular & Grad wearMav Wear orders are due on Friday, December 6th. Sizers for all clothing are available in the office. Grad hoodie order forms and sizers will be available at the Grad Meeting on Wednesday evening. maverick athletes of the month - novemberMaverick Athletic updateBasketball is now in full swing. JV Boys are practicing Tuesday and Thursday. See Mr. K. Stevenson if you'd still like to join. Varsity Girls are now in full swing. See Mrs. Kurylko if you want to join the team. JV boys are hosting a tournament this coming weekend. They play at 1:00pm on Friday and 9:00am on Saturday, followed by a playoff game Saturday afternoon. Grade 7/8 Basketball sign ups can be found in the 7/8 hallway. Practices will be starting soon so listen for announcements. Wrestling has also started. We are always open to having new students join. Any student from K-12 is welcome. In order to fit students in where they will achieve the most success and have the most fun, we have three groups running.
student leadership host 12 days of christmassenior years' banquetMorris school welcomes gaga ball!!A group of generous parents are combining with some of our students to build a Gaga Ball pit for Morris School. This initiative is a result of our Tim Hortons Camp community improvement project. Our Grade 5/6 students felt this project would improve our student experience during recess. The generosity of our parents and Morris TIMBER MART are making this project a reality. Our Mavericks are grateful! A number of students have played the game before and are enjoying it immensely. A number of students spent last week's physical education classes playing the game to learn the rules. Due to its popularity, we may have to restrict certain age groups during specific recesses to ensure all students can enjoy the new experience. one person's trash is another's treasure!!What does white elephant sale mean? A white elephant sale is a collection of used items being sold, much akin to a yard sale or garage sale, often as a fundraiser for a cause. Grade 5/6 fundraiser Though this would be a 5/6 incentive, we would ask for donations from everyone!! Anyone who wanted to donate GUC items would be greatly appreciated. Intake dates for donations will be 9-NOON the second Wednesday of each month until May. November 13th December 10th January 8th February 12th March 11th April 8th May 6th (1st Wednesday) The Town of Morris has a Town Wide Garage Sale every May (date TBD) which is advertised by the Recreation Office including a Map of the town and all the sales that register. This will help with advertising. The money raised would go towards upgrading the school yard (paying for the recently constructed Gaga Ball Pit, for example) and play areas or anything else the class can come up with. Morris School visits the museumThe Morris & District Centennial Museum played host to our Grades 1-4 classes this past week. Our students enjoyed their active learning experiences immensely. We, at Morris School, are once again grateful for the community we live in and the people who live within it! The band concert was a hit!The Morris School Band Concert was a huge hit last night! We appreciate our students taking a risk and giving their best to perform in front of our school community. Our students’ talents were overflowing. Congratulations to Ms. Demond on her inaugural concert at Morris School. We appreciate you immensely! New parent group formed - all welcomeCome connect with other parents for discussion and support! Divisional social workers, Melanie Bazin and Jill Siemens, together with social work student Heidi Harder, are facilitating a group for parents every Monday at noon at Morris School. This is an opportunity for parents to come together to talk about topics and issues that are important to you and to share ideas and support. Light lunch is provided and all types of parents and caregivers (foster parents, grandparents, other caregivers, etc) are welcome! Drop by anytime!
