"We Scare Hunger" Food DriveMorris School would like to thank everyone for their support of our "We Scare Hunger" initiative. Our school community's response to the food drive was impressive. We appreciate our students looking outside themselves during the food drive and concentrate on the needs of our community. Below is just one class' contribution to the drive! Way to go, MAV's! Remembrance Day Assembly - Thursday, Nov. 8Our School will host a K-12 Remembrance Day Assembly on Thursday, November 8 at 1 pm in the Senior Years' Gym. Birthday Invitations and Morris SchoolAlthough adults look to avoid them as we get older, birthdays are an important event for students. However, there have been some concerns regarding invitations being distributed at the school. To avoid hurt feelings, we would ask that all out-of-school party invitations be emailed, mailed, or distributed outside the school in some way. We appreciate your cooperation! If you have any questions, please see Mr. Watson. Maverick Athletics this week...Go Mav's!!
Staff vs Student Soccer GameOur staff has challenged our senior years' students to a soccer game. The soccer game will take place Wednesday, November 7th. The game is tentatively scheduled for outside. Interested students should sign up in the gym. See Mr. Cox for more details. Varsity Girls Volleyball In BrandonCongratulations to our Varsity Girls' Volleyball team for their recent performance in Brandon this weekend. Our girls made it to the final of their playoff pool and then enjoyed some Bobcat Volleyball. Thank you to Mr. Stevenson and parents for providing a great opportunity for our girls! Way to Go, MAV's! coming Soon to Morris School...The sport of amateur freestyle wrestling will be introduced to Morris School in November. The school will offer a wrestling program to all students (K-12). Mr. Watson will act as coach. Wrestling is of the Amateur Freestyle variety. It is not WWE. You will not see turnbuckles, Stone Cold Stunners, etc. What you see at the Olympics is what we do at the school. Students wrestle other athletes of their own age and weight (within reason...usually in weight classes) Practices will take place for students in K-8 during the lunch hour timeframe. Senior Years' students will practice after or before school (yet to be determined). The school's wrestling team will participate in weekend tournaments at various locations throughout the province. Tournaments run from December to March. Interested students will be invited to an information meeting later in November, but we wanted to get the word out to all community members, especially parents of early years students because this will require permission forms, etc. Stay tuned for more information. Feel free to contact Mr. Watson if you have questions. His email address is [email protected] A week of fun...Thank you to all community members who made the past week a great time in our school. Our usual learning environment was enhanced and adjusted to allow for spirit week and Halloween to fit into our days. We appreciate all the work our Leadership Group, faculty & staff, and parents as well as the creativity of our students displayed this week. What a great place to be...Way to Go, MAV's!
