School spirit alive & Well at morris schoolOur first spirit week of the season was a huge hit. We had a number of our Mavericks from K-12 get into the spirit and dress up according to the theme of the day. We appreciate all the efforts of our student leadership group, led by Ms. Hillary Jorgenson and Ms. Deanna Chanthavong. Students and staff enjoyed their week! Parent workshop - this tuesdayA group of Morris School students attended Discovery Days at the University of Manitoba. The students were together for the keynote speaker, then they attended the workshops of their choice. Our students gained a clear picture of what it would be like to be a health professional by interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting. Maverick Varsity Boys continue to excel! The Varsity Boys Volleyball team continues to excel. Fresh off their second consecutive tournament win at RVS last weekend, the boys hosted their own tournament this weekend. The boys were not giving hosts as they captured their third tournament victory in as many tries! Congratulations MAV's! varsity girls volleyball travel to brandonThe varsity girls were in Brandon this weekend for their final tournament of the year. The Spartan Dig hosts 40 teams in the Varsity Girls division alone. The Mavericks finished round robin play with a 3-3 record but unfortunately with such a large tournament, placements can be difficult and there was no chance for redemption so the Mavericks had to play through C Side competition on Saturday. The ladies did not show any signs of frustration, and simply dominated Saturday's play. The Mavericks went 6-0, outscoring the competition 150-83, to capture the C-Side Championship with ease. The Morris VG's host Carman on Tuesday at 7pm following the boys game vs Shevchenko. Winners will play for the Zone IV championship on Thursday. Grade 3/4's were a-MAzing!!A planned field trip to A-Maze-In Corn had to be postponed due to our lovely October storm! The trip was rescheduled to this past week. The class dressed warm and used their navigating skills and made it through the maze. A ton of fun was had by all! Thank you to Mrs. C. Edel and Mrs. Johnston as well as our valuable EA's and parent volunteers for making the day! parent teacher online registrationParent Teacher conferences are schedules for the evening of Thursday, November 21st and the morning of Friday, November 22nd. Online booking appointments for our upcoming conferences will open Thursday, November 14th at 8 am. The booking software closes on Wednesday, November 20th at noon. For our K-8 families, this is the same software you used to book the Strong Beginnings sessions. Due to the large number of Kindergarten students this year, Mrs. Roberge has her own conference sessions set up online. If you are booking an appointment to see her, please use the Kindergarten Thursday night session or the Kindergarten Friday Morning session to do so. If a teacher is fully booked and unavailable, please contact the teacher directly to arrange a meeting outside of the regular parent-teacher meeting times. You can access the online booking software by click here. If you are new to the online software, you would need to click on the blue "Register Now" button just below the login window.
