Thank you, Mr. Jamie OlivieroOur K-8 students benefited from and enjoyed Mr. Jamie Oliviero's presence and storytelling skills during his two weeks at Morris School. His engaging stories and ability to use his stories as a tool to asking our students to consider how they can make our community a better place. This experience could not have been possible without the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council. We appreciate the opportunity for this experience. Our MAV's are grateful. Kindergarten/Pre-School registrationOur school will be hosting a Kindergarten Open House and Pre-School registration evening on Tuesday, February 12 at 6:30 pm. We look forward to seeing all interested and affected families on the 12th. If you know of anyone who are not currently a member of our Morris School family but would fit within our intended audience, please pass on the information. Please encourage them to contact the school if they have questions. Staffing Adjustments - Semester 2For a variety of reasons, we will be making some staffing changes. Most of these changes will be made this week, with some others happening within the next two weeks.

A cup of hot chocolate is $1 (marshmallows included) and the proceeds will go towards providing clean drinking water for an impoverished village in a developing country. Our group will also be delivering more bird seed bells to the Red River Valley Lodge that we made before the break. Great work, MAV's! maverick Athletics...In spite of windchill days and exam week for our senior high students, Maverick Athletics keeps busy with student-athletes learning how to balance their busy lives... Maverick JV Girls Basketball An injury stricken squad of 7 were at Immanuel Christian School this weekend. The JV Girls finished the weekend by winning a nail-biter against Souris 38-34. Some highlights include Sjusen Storck playing all 120 minutes and providing the Mavericks with consistent defensive pressure and pitching in an average of 5 points per game, and leading scorer Molli Johnston averaging 11 points per game. The JV group will be joined by the varsity players to take on Carman (Tues @ 6 in Morris) and RVS (Thur @ 6 @ RVS) this week. They will be in action at another tournament this weekend at RVS. Maverick Grade 7/8 Basketball The Grade 7/8 basketball teams play their first league game on Thursday here in Morris vs JA Cuddy. Our Maverick Boys start at 3, girls follow at 4. Good luck to our Mavericks! Maverick Hockey Due to our inclement weather this past week, our #1 ranked Mavericks hockey team's schedule was reduced to a single game. The weather didn't stop our MAV's from hitting the road Friday night to Manitou and continuing their winning ways as a they defeated the Pembina Tigers 4-1. Cody Clark, Daniel Isaak, and Lucas Siemens all contributed two points a piece. Sean Penner made 26 of 27 saves for the victory. The Mavericks were also honoured to spend their Saturday this weekend to play a a game against their alum. The vintage Mavericks gave the current Mavericks a challenge. The current Mavericks escaped with a 5-4 shootout victory. Thank you to our alumni Mavericks for taking the time to give back to the program. The Mavericks have a busy end to their week this week with a game at home against the #5 ranked Mountain Mustangs on Thursday and the GVC Zodiacs in Winkler on Friday. Go MAV's! Maverick Wrestling Our wrestling program continues to grow each week. We traveled into Winnipeg (Grant Park High School) on two separate days with 14 wrestlers. For those paying attention, that's one Maverick competing in the first tournament; seven in the second; and now 12 in the third tournament of the year. The continued growth in numbers was matched by the continued growth in experience, performance, and knowledge of the sport. Congratulations to Emma K, Rocky T, and Kalle B for going undefeated and capturing gold medals (the first for Emma and Rocky)! Alexis W, Hayden T, Carson S, and Daniel E earned silver medals. Damian E, and Alexsei B earned bronze medals at their first tournament of the year. Our Monday, Wednesday, and Friday lunch recess practices will continue for our K-6 students as well as Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after school practices (3:30 - 5:00 pm).

Hey, so when are we supposed to have grad pictures. The 4th was the original date, but, as you know, the weather was absolutely disgusting. Please let me know. I’ve tried emailing several times and get no response. Thank you. 8/1/2022 04:20:30 am
