Mr. Koncan talked about the tools he utilizes to predict the weather and how he got into weather reporting. We discussed different types of clouds, extreme weather, and high and low pressure systems. Students had some really great questions and we learned a great deal about tornadoes! A big thank you to Mike Koncan from Global News Winnipeg and his cameraman, Blair, for coming to our school. COACH LEWIS NOMINATED FOR PROVINCIAL AWARDMr. Barry Lewis is too humble to let people know, so the Morris School Blog has to spread the word on his behalf. Mr. Lewis, head coach of the Provincial Champion Morris Maverick Hockey team, has been nominated for a 2019 Coaching Manitoba Impact Award. The Coaching Manitoba Impact Awards presented by Club Regent Casino & Event Centre recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements and significant contributions coaches have made to their athletes and their sport through coaching. The award does not reflect the accomplishments and contributions of a coach in any one year, rather the awards are designed to acknowledge the contributions a coach has made to his/her sport and athletes over a number of years. Mr. Lewis will join all the other nominees from the Peter Dick School System Award as well as the other major categories on Saturday, April 13th. We wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution to our school community. Drop off and pick up reminderAs we head into the final few months of the school year, we continue to appreciate those families who have respected our request about not dropping off or picking up their students by stopping/parking in the small loop at the end of Toronto Avenue. We would ask everyone to stop prior to the east end of the school building and dropping off/picking up your students. This allows all vehicles to drive to the end of Toronto Avenue and using the loop to turn around and be on their way. parent teacher conferences - coming soon...Our first attempt to book parent-teacher conference appointments online received positive feedback from parents and staff.
