post-secondary toursmorris school hosts some special guestsOn Thursday afternoon, our students had the fantastic opportunity to experience the Brandon University Symphonic Band perform for us in our very own school! Students from across grade 3-12 were in attendance, and we also had some special band student guests come to watch from Ecole Heritage. The ensemble demonstrated what a professional concert band sounds like, and our band students were blown away to see the calibre of musicianship that was on stage in front of them. Thank you to Mrs. Kurylko and Mr. Lehmann for sharing the gymnasium for the afternoon, and to Dr. Wendy Zander and BU Symphonic Band for the inspirational concert experience! Cookem Daisey visits Home ec & Grade 5/6Cookem Daisey came in and explained the history of bannock and how in the 70's families who were indigenous had to make this bannock in secret so that people didn't know they were indigenous because people would stop doing business with them. The grade 9 and 10 Home Ec classes had the opportunity to make Cookem Daisey's award-winning Bannock recipe and homemade jam during their session with her. The 5/6 Moore class enjoyed learning about traditional indigenous foods and traditions from Cookem Daisey. The bannock was amazing too! mavericks athletic updateJunior Varsity Volleyball Our boys and girls went undefeated in league play this week with the Girls defeating MCI in 5 sets and the Boys defeating Carman in 4 sets.
