SafeArrival Starts Monday!Morris School will be launching the SafeArrival application on Monday, May 6. A letter detailing the process has been sent with the progress reports. We would encourage you to read the letter and familiarize yourself with the process for reporting absences to the school. Our senior years students (Grades 7-12) will have attendance checked for every period of the day. Notification of absences will continue to be sent to parents for each period, unless the parent uses the SafeArrival app or calls the school to excuse the absence. If you have any questions regarding the launch of this process, please call the school. picking up students during school dayWe would like to reiterate the importance of checking in at the Morris School Welcome Centre (the office) if you need to pick up your student for an appointment or any other reason to pull them out of school during the day. We will ensure your student meets you in the office in time for you to make your appointment. This applies to all students (K-12). If a senior years student is leaving on their own for any reason, they should be checking out at the office. The above procedures are for the safety and accountability of our students. If you are coming to the school to visit your student's classroom, please check in at the office first. They have already been working on bikes and getting their tools and space in order. Now they are ready to begin bike tune ups. They will start with the grade 5/6 area and move forward with K-4’s at a later date. We are excited to see their ideas grow and know that the Bike Shop will get bigger and better over the years with other students joining in to do repairs as we get bigger! Please see their ad below! GRADES 5/6’s Need a bike tune up? Contact the Morris School Bike Shop! We provide a free estimate and promise you will have your bike tuned up within the day! Not only do we fix those pesky flats, but we will make sure your chain gets oiled and repaired if needed and that you will drive away in style with a seat adjustment (if needed)!! We will look to remove rust too! We are starting with Mr. Petty’s class: the first 10 tune ups for this class are free to help us determine costs. Names will drawn daily for the tune ups and if you are one of the lucky 10 – you will get yours done for free! STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES AS TO COSTS AND OTHER BIKE SHOP SPECIALS!! World of ChoicesOn Tuesday, April 30th our grade nine students were invited to the annual World of Choices seminar held in Altona. This year the seminar welcomed over 35 mentors, which included police officers, mayors, bankers, construction companies and many more from around our district. The students had a chance to sit with and learn about six different professions from the mentors. The day also welcomed two inspirational keynote speakers, one from RBC and the other from Junior Achievement Manitoba. This year the seminar also included the "Choice Alley" which was held on the arena floor and included much larger displays from Manitoba Hydro, welding companies, Morden Fire Department, and others. It was a great day and a great deal of new information was obtained by all students! Comments are closed.
