June Exam Schedule - updateSafeArrival updateMorris School made it through our week with the SafeArrival software. I thank all parents who helped us with its successful launch. Our office staff and faculty had a few bumps, but we feel it has made a significant improvement in holding our students accountable and encouraging better communication between our school community's constituents. Christina tried competing in two events at once, but it all worked out as she won the Shot put competition after just making it there from her Triple jump event being held on the opposite side of the field. The next time the high school track team will be in action is May 28-29 at the Zone Track Meet. Way to go, MAV's! Kindergarten egg hatching projectIt's an exciting time in Kindergarten these days! Our two classes are patiently waiting (21 days) for their chicks to arrive. Thanks to some awesome parental involvement, the Kindergartens have an incubator and some eggs. They've learned a great deal about how chickens are born. This past week, the students learned how to see if the eggs they have contain a live chick. After checking all 10 eggs, the students now have 9 eggs in the running to hatch a baby chick. Active Learning is happening in all grade levels at our school. The photos below are grainy due to the lights needing to be off to check the status of the contents of the eggs. The students were looking for veins and eyes...signs of life inside the eggs. morris senior concert band annual tripOur Senior Years’ Concert Band traveled into Winnipeg today to play for students at two elementary schools. We thank Ecole La Verendrye and Kent Road School for hosting us. The students heard various selections from our band as well as learning about the instrument families that make up our concert band! What a great day of music and sharing. The students were also entertained by the Celebrations Theatre performance of the Big Boom Theory as well as some fun at Splatters paintball. Way to go, MAV’s! Students attend Construction Career ExpoThe Winnipeg Construction Association and Manitoba Building Trades presented the Manitoba Construction Career Expo. Some of our Morris School students were welcomed with another 2 000 high school students to Red River Exhibition Place. The students had some hands-on experiences in a variety of industry trades. The Expo was also a great chance for companies or organizations to get in front of the next generation of trade workers. Comments are closed.
