Ski Trip Fundraising EveningWinter Band ConcertOur school would like to thank everyone for attending our Winter Band Concert this past week. You attendance at our event helped to make our students' efforts throughout the semester worth it. We are grateful to have Mrs. Penno leading our music program and we appreciate the talent of our students and the support they receive from their family and friends as it pertains to growing their musical skills and talents. What a great evening! Coming soon...A Pirates' Christmas! We're less than a week away from our K-4 production, "A Pirate Christmas." We encourage our community to come out to the school for either the 1:00 pm or 6:30 pm performances. Word on the street suggests the 1:00 pm performance may provide you with a better opportunity for a good seat! We look forward to seeing you on Thursday, December 13. 12 Days of Christmas continues...It was great to see some school and Christmas spirit within the walls of Morris School this week as the Leadership Group rolled out the "Twelve Days of Christmas Activity Schedule." The fun continues next week with Days 3 through 7. As per any type of activities we run at the school, student participation is encouraged but optional. Manitoba Theatre for Young PeopleThe Manitoba Theatre for Young People were at our school today for two reasons. The first was to perform for our Grades 7-12 students. The performance, Still/Falling, was about Nina. Nina has a great life. She loves her family, she does well in school, and her friends are awesome. But suddenly Nina starts feeling… off, and she finds herself slipping into a dark reality she cannot understand, let alone articulate to the people around her. Still/Falling follows Nina as she tries to come to terms with what it means to struggle with anxiety and depression, and to rise above it with as much strength, and as few scars, as possible. A realistic, honest and bitingly funny look at the difference between ‘teen angst’ and mental illness and the ways vulnerable kids can start to find their way out of the dark. The second reason for the MTYP visit was to conduct a writer's workshop with our Grade 9 students. We appreciate their time today and the school thanks Mrs. Laurie Edel for organizing these two events! Mehgan's Musings...Mehgan Smith, the AFM counsellor for RRVSD, is hoping to submit educational and informational blog entries on a fairly regular basis. We're hoping the following information can help to inform and start family conversations. AFM established the Knowledge Exchange Centre as a hub for information sharing on leading-edge, evidence-informed practices in addictions programming and research for the addictions field in Manitoba. Our mission based on a foundation of excellence providing addictions services and supporting healthy behaviours. Let’s get informed with the facts! Make no MYTH-stake Topic: Cannabis
