winter town bus returns - coming soonTown busses are provided courtesy of Red River Valley School Division in Morris for students who must cross a major highway (#23, #75) or who live a long distance from school – This service is geared towards K-6 students. The winter town bus will start as soon as possible, but there are some things we need to know prior to the buses starting this service. Due to current health protocols we require families to register their K-6 children for the Winter Town Bus this year as we will have to create a seating plan. We would ask you to email Mr. Watson ([email protected]) or Ms. Denny LeBlanc ([email protected]) to register your student(s) for the school bus. Please indicate the Bus & Stop Number in the email, so we can organize appropriately. Once the bus is full, we will send an email out to everyone notifying you of such. Due to weather or other factors, pick up times may vary some mornings. Students should be at their pick up location early. It is also requested that parents of very young children escort them to pick up points to ensure their students load safely. If students miss the bus for any reason, it will not wait or return for them – they will have to walk to school. The following is a list of drivers and pickup/drop-off intersections. That is unfortunate, but there's a few ways for that not to happen again! Please be sure to check the divisional & school websites for school closure information. Please also ensure your information is up to date with the office as we send out emails and texts (if you are set up for such) when the School is closed. Closure information is also available on our school's Twitter & Instagram accounts, and media outlets like CJOB and Global News. picture retake day - new date is November 25With the school closure on Thursday, November 18, it also postponed our Picture Retake Day. This date will need to be rescheduled with our photographers. A new date has been confirmed. It is the afternoon of Thursday, November 25. There were a few inquiries yesterday regarding the new retake day, but some of those inquiries were from families who had not indicated their desire for retakes with either their classroom teacher (K-8) or by signing up at the office. A reminder to those in the above situation, you must indicate a desire for retakes to be eligible for retakes. We are not taking walk-ups. attention class of 2022 students!parent/teacher - sign up by wednesday, Nov 24Our first set of Parent/Teacher Conferences are set for Thursday, November 25 (4-8 pm) and Friday, November 26 (9 am - noon). Outdoor courts christmas raffleOur Red River Wellness Committee continues to work hard to make two new outdoor courts at Morris School a reality. Our group's efforts to solicit local business, farms, and individuals for donations has allowed us earn over $50 000. We will be acknowledging our donors over the next few months with articles in the blog. We also have an online 50/50 raffle that hosts bi-weekly draws (https://raffle.link/rrwc); our next bi-weekly draw is November 23 with our Jackpot draw in March. Our newest endeavour is a Christmas Raffle. Thanks to the generous donations from the individuals and businesses below, we have an opportunity to raise some additional funds for the project. This raffle will be similar to what you see at a Social. A potential winner would purchase tickets and choose what prize they would like their ticket(s) to be drawn for. Our four prizes include a beautiful handmade quilt designed and created by our former Home Economics teacher, Ms. Janine Rivard, a Yeti cooler and mugs donated by Access Credit Union, $200 work of Co-op Gift card donated by Sun Valley Co-op, and a pair Jets tickets to see a game from the Budweiser Lounge, thanks to Rempel Insurance. To purchase your tickets, you can reach out to anyone listed below or we will be selling these tickets at Twister and Maverick Hockey games between now and the draw date (December 19). We have also recruited Mrs. Huska to assist with this raffle at the school. Who can say, 'no' to Mrs. Huska!?! We accept cash and e-transfers for the purchase of the tickets. You will also see two QR codes on the poster as well if you want to show your support by making a tax-deductible donation (cheques to Morris School) or you want to try your luck in our online 50/50 raffle. What a great way to support the project and possibly do some Christmas shopping at the same time!! Thank you, in advance, for your generosity. get your yearbooks, heeeeeerrrrrreeee!!Grade 5/6's at home with wasps! Thanks to Carter in Mr. Moore's class for bringing in an actual wasp nest to share for science. When the class cut it open they saw the amazing hexagonal columns where eggs are laid. The nest was surrounded by layers of papery material which they got to touch and pull apart. Grade 5/6 Rock Climbing - the sequel! The Grade 5/6 Phys. Ed. class is making big improvements in their Wall Climbing (bouldering) skills & abilities! The two difficult 'routes' on the wall are known as the 'Yellow-Brick Road' and the 'Green Monster.' Many students have successfully conquered the 'Yellow-Brick Road,' but only one student, Landon Sarrasin, has successfully conquered the 'Green Monster.' Good job everyone!
