Spirit Week InformationSpirit Week is set for this upcoming week. The week is for the entire school. The only adjustment is Friday. The K-6 students are encouraged to wear bright colours...any bright colours you have! We Scare Hunger Food Drive - Final Push! Our school's Kids Caring For Kids group is encouraging our student body to participate in our "We Scare Hunger" Food Drive. The drive ends this upcoming week and we would love to see a final push on the desired food items that would benefit the Morris Food Bank as well as our own Breakfast Club program. All non-perishable food items are welcomed, but the Morris food bank as well as our own breakfast club has some "Most Wanted" items. These items include Canned Meat/Fish, Coffee/Tea, Coffeemate, Evaporated Milk, Gravy Mix, Hamburger Helper, Hot Chocolate, Instant Skim Milk, Jam, Jello, Ketchup, Mustard, Peanut Butter, Pudding, Relish, Shampoo, Soap, Soup, Sugar, and Toothpaste. Grade 5/6's Make HistoryThis past Sunday, a group of our Grade 5/6 students participated in the second annual NFL/CFL Regional Flag Football tournament at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg. Although it was the second annual tournament, it was the first time the Morris Mavericks have ever entered a football tournament. It was a great day for our kids. They learned a great deal about themselves and one another. We're hoping to have flag football be a part of Morris School for years to come. We congratulate the group for their efforts and for making history. Poppies AvailableOur local Royal Canadian Legion has dropped off poppies. They are available in the front office. All donations are accepted. The proceeds of these donations go directly to support veterans and their families. We will be having a Remembrance Day event at the school on Thursday, November 8. More information will be in next week's blog entry. Mavericks win their own TournamentCongratulations to the Maverick Hockey team who captured the Championship trophy at their own 12th Annual Dylan Berard Memorial Tournament. The Mavericks went undefeated at the event, beating the Lord Selkirk Royals 2-1 in overtime in the championship final. Congratulations to the student-athletes, their coaches, and the community volunteers who made the event a success! Way to go, MAV's!
