Well done, MAV's! winter = Review of school closures proceduresWe received the following from Superintendent Brad Curtis recently... Unfortunately, it looks like we will be having winter again this year! If we have to close school in RRVSD, all staff will be notified by email as soon as possible. This email will likely occur between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. School closure notification will also be made on Twitter and will be posted on the RRVSD Website. As well, announcements of closures will be made on the following media outlets: CJOB, CBC, CFAM, Country 88, Eagle 935, CHSM, CILT, CTV, Global and Magic 105. Morris School continues to support our own!Our students and staff continue to support Urijah Dyck and his family as battles T-cell Leukemia and Lymphoma. Our first session of the student led "Cookings for Caring" was a huge success. A number of our students and staff can be found wearing yellow ribbons, a PAC initiative. Today we have a third initiative to unveil. A few staff members came up with an idea to show support by surrounding Urijah and his family in this fight he has ahead of him by creating “Urijah’s Army.” We have ordered bracelets printed with “Urijah’s Army” to sell for $2.00 on November 29th and 30th in front of the school library. For the kindergarten to Grade 4 classes, students can give their money to their classroom teacher from now until the 29th. On the 29th and 30th, the bracelets will be delivered to their classes and teachers will hand them out. Urijah's mother and father want to extend their thanks for all the support the community has shown and continues to show as they continue on this journey they have ahead of them. All proceeds from the sale will go directly to Urijah’s family. coming soon...Movie Night!!Morris School Hosts Provincial VolleyballOur school is preparing to host next week's 2018/19 McDonalds Provincial A/AA Junior Varsity Girls Volleyball Championships. We are excited to host 11 school from throughout the province within our walls. Our JV Girls will also be competing at the tournament and it would be great to receive as much support as possible from our community. Information regarding the tournament can be found at the MHSAA website (click here). As per our blog entry last week, although we are proud to host this event, it will affect our Grade 7-12 programming on the opening day of the tournament (Thursday, November 22). Our Senior High classrooms will be used to host our visiting teams throughout the weekend. This will make it difficult to conduct regular classes on Thursday. Understanding that, Grade 7-12 students attending school on Thursday, November 22 will sign in at a table just outside the library and then be assigned a volunteer duty to assist in delivering a quality experience for our visiting student-athletes. Those students who choose not to attend school on Thursday, November 22 will be assigned an excused absence. Students from Kindergarten through to Grade 6 as well as our Access and Alternative students will have regularly scheduled classes. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Watson. We wish all teams participating in the tournament the best of luck. Go MAV's!
