Year end BBQ - Thank you PAC!!Morris School would like to take the opportunity to thank the Morris School Parent Advisory Council for their work in sending our students off with a great BBQ experience. We appreciate the work done by our parent volunteers. Our school community is only as good as its members and we really appreciate the awesome work done by our parents. You are the best. A special thanks as well to Morris Big Way for their generous support all year, including the year end BBQ! Just another thing to be grateful for at Morris School!! Strong beginnings - register onlineStrong Beginnings is a MANDATORY assessment that occurs early in September for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8. On Friday, September 13 and Monday, September 16, 2019, children will attend school by appointment for approximately 60 minutes to participate in assessment activities. The appointments on these days replace regular classes. This is an opportunity for teachers to extend and consolidate their understanding of each child in order to plan for instruction. This, in turn, will effectively address unique learning needs as early as possible in the new school year. All Grades K-8 students need to be registered for Strong Beginnings by Friday, September 6th. If you do not have a Conference Manager account, please access the site via our school's website or by clicking here. Mavericks cheer Blue bombers on to victoryOne Hundred (not a typo) Morris School community members (students, parents, siblings, & staff) attended the Winnipeg Blue Bomber home opener this past week. Thanks to the generosity of the Winnipeg Football Club a number of these 100 members were at their first Bomber game, their first game at IG Field, and/or their first CFL game. Our Morris School members hopped on to our school's Instagram account (@morrisschool1) and replied to the questions posed. All who answered won tickets...can't guarantee that every time!! Our Mavericks did their part in cheering on the Bombers to a 28-21 victory over the Edmonton Eskimos. kindergarten calendars - correcting a typoIt has come to our attention of a typo in our 2019-20 Kindergarten calendar. This year we have a few staff departing Morris School as well. Morris School would like to acknowledge and thank the teachers who will be "graduating" with the Class of 2019. Mrs. Margaret Wiebe has been an Educational Assistant at Morris School for the past 20 years. We are excited for her chance to spend more time with her grandchildren and I believe that is reciprocal. Thank you for your service. Mrs. Amber Roberts is moving on from Morris School at the end of this year. The work she has done to develop her team in Access 2 has been remarkable. We wish her the best. Although we celebrated the next “graduation” at the most recent Band concert, we would like to extend our best wishes to Mrs. Heather Penno as she is five school days from retirement after 23 years of excellent service at Morris School. May your retirement life be excellent and your golf courses green. Ms. Angela Bahnman will be on a one year leave of absence during the 2019-20 school year.
